This course is designed by experts in the fashion industry for those with basic pattern cutting skills who want to develop their skills to the next level. From the intermediate level of pattern cutting, you will learn how to create commercial garments using industry-standard techniques. From this level, you will be equipped with the skills you need to start your own fashion line

Level 2 Assessment: Sample development project — one completed womenswear garment demonstrating intermediate pattern cutting skills. Must be completed before Level 2 certification is awarded.

Session 1 — How to draft a dress block combining the bodice and skirt blocks into one continuous garment template. Waist seam and princess seam variations. Ease and fitting considerations.

Session 2 — Shirt Block How to draft a shirt block — collar stand, cuff, placket, and yoke. Application to womenswear shirt and blouse styles.

Session 3 — Corset with Bra Cups How to draft a corset pattern with integrated bra cups. Boning placement, seam structure, and underwire channels. Finishing and construction notes for corsetry.

Session 4 —How to Draft a Tailored Jacket How to draft a tailored jacket block from the bodice block. Jacket shaping, facing, lapel, pocket positions, and ease allowance. Back vent, side seam, and hem construction lines. All pieces traced, seam allowance added, and labelled ready for sewing.

Session 5 —How to Sew a Tailored Jacket Industry-standard sewing and construction techniques for a tailored jacket. Interfacing application, pad stitching, and canvas work. Setting in sleeves, sewing the lining, and inserting shoulder pads. Welt pockets, buttonholes, and jacket finishing techniques.

Session 6 — Trouser Block — 2 Types How to draft a wide-leg trouser from the basic block. How to draft a tapered/slim-leg trouser from the basic block. Completing and labelling all pieces ready for the sample development project.

No additional materials costs. All 2 weeks are delivered at our East London studio — face-to-face sessions.

Session duration All sessions are 4 hours each. 6 sessions across 2 weeks. 24 hours of total tuition.

Certification: A full advance programme certificate is awarded on successful completion of the Advanced capsule collection assessment.

Prerequisites: Level 2 requires completion of Level 1.

Cancellation: Once a 50% deposit is made no cancellations is allowed before the start date.
