ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Dr Ivie Liberty — Fashion Academic, Designer & Founder of Seams & Notches. Dr Ivie Liberty is a leading fashion academic and designer with over a decade of experience across pattern cutting, garment construction, fashion design, and textile research. She specialises in breaking down complex technical processes into clear, structured, beginner-friendly learning. She holds a PhD in Fashion & Textiles, with research focused on garment development, pattern drafting methodologies, and accessible fashion education. Her academic work spans both quantitative and qualitative methods, allowing her to teach with clarity, precision, and evidence-based technique

Dr Liberty has taught at two major UK universities:

• Lecturer in Fashion Manufacturing at the University of Huddersfield, UK.

• Technical Specialist in Garment Construction at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.

As the Founder and Director of BEVANI and creator of Seams & Notches, she has built a global platform dedicated to empowering beginners, hobbyists, and aspiring designers. Her teaching blends technical accuracy with an encouraging, confidence-building approach.

Her mission is simple: To help you create with confidence, accuracy, and joy — no fashion school required.
